Kia Carens Interior Enhancements

Inside, the Carens facelift is anticipated to receive significant updates. The dashboard design will be revamped, potentially drawing inspiration from the Kia Seltos. A dual 10.25-inch screen setup is expected, serving both the infotainment system and the digital instrument cluster. Additional features may include a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, wireless phone charging, and ambient lighting. New upholstery options and color themes will further elevate the cabin’s appeal.

Advanced Safety Features

Safety is a key focus in the upcoming Carens facelift. The MPV is expected to come equipped with six airbags as standard, electronic stability control (ESC), and front and rear parking sensors. A 360-degree camera system will aid in parking and maneuvering. Notably, the Carens will introduce Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), a first in its segment, offering features like adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and automatic emergency braking.

Powertrain Options

Mechanically, the Carens facelift will retain its existing engine lineup:

  • A 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 115 PS and 144 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission.
  • A 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine delivering 160 PS and 253 Nm, available with a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
  • A 1.5-litre diesel engine generating 116 PS and 250 Nm, offered with a 6-speed manual, iMT, or a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Introduction of Carens EV

In addition to the facelifted internal combustion engine (ICE) variants, Kia plans to launch an all-electric version of the Carens by mid-2025. The Carens EV is expected to share its powertrain with the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV, featuring a similar battery capacity and range. Design-wise, the EV will mirror the facelifted Carens but may include unique elements like aerodynamically optimized alloy wheels and sustainable interior materials.

Expected Pricing and Rivals

The current Kia Carens is priced between ₹10.60 lakh and ₹19.70 lakh (ex-showroom). With the upcoming updates, the facelifted model is expected to be priced slightly higher, ranging from ₹11 lakh to ₹20 lakh. The Carens will continue to compete with models like the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Toyota Rumion, Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, and MG Hector.

Launch Timeline

Production of the facelifted Kia Carens is set to commence in May 2025, with the official launch expected by June 2025. The Carens EV is also slated for a mid-2025 debut, aligning with Kia’s strategy to expand its electric vehicle portfolio in India.

The 2025 Kia Carens facelift, with its blend of design enhancements, advanced features, and the introduction of an electric variant, aims to cater to the evolving preferences of Indian consumers seeking a modern and versatile MPV.
